I suggest these three tips for humanizing your brand on Twitter and throughout the web:
1. Use a human face in your avatar. Add your logo to a corner or the bottom. See: Scott Monty Personally, I don’t follow logos, nor feel a human connection when conversing with them online.
2. Use your real name. I don’t care if you had the same name for 10 years, very few people will remember @tymn45. The best recent example of this is @skydiver changing his name to @PeterShankman. Why did he do this? Peter Shankman, the brand, will eventually be much more known than “the skydiver guy”. While “Skydiver” is catchy and easy to remember, that is not the name of the author who writes his book or stars in his TV show.
3. Keep it consistant. Use the same Avatar across all your networks. When I see a good comment on a blog post, I remember the face not the name.
SIDE TIP: Follow back your followers if they are real. Please watch video for explanation.
